I spent most of last week in the crapital of our kakistocracy, and interacted a lot with government workers.

I have never been so pumped to be back in the Mitten. Or as I like to call it, the real world. Not being on the road kicks serious ass. Not being in DC kicks even more ass. Going to the gym today after a forced week off, which is also going to kick ass. If there are a few hot chicks there to look at between sets, all the better. In case there aren’t, though, I may as well get straight to today’s binder selections.

MMM 119: Overnight roast edition

Take any relatively lean beef roast (4-6#), season, and place in pre-heated oven at 500F. Roast for 30 minutes, then turn off heat. DO NOT OPEN OVEN. Allow 3-4 hours for medium-rare. Leave it overnight and you get medium rare and cool enough to pack immediately for a lunch. Haven’t done this in awhile, doing it right now, because I planned my lunch strategy for the week somewhat less than perfectly.

This week, real motivation.

We’ve been at war in Afghanistan since 2001. Everything I hear tells me that our ROE basically forbid actually winning, and it’s the “good war” so we aren’t leaving. Basically, our guys are in harm’s way because… that’s where the SCOAMF wants them. Why are they even there to be visited used as a photo op?

Never mind, answered my own question.

In any event, I have the greatest respect for anyone voluntarily serving in our armed forces right now. I couldn’t bring myself to salute TFG, let alone work in an office where his shit-eating-grin photo hangs. Having the grace to do so is a blessing, and I tip my hat to all of you. I hope that wherever you are today, someone thanks you personally for your service.
